Anna Sui Indonesia Protective BB Cream Launching Event + REVIEW

On Wednesday 12 August, I went to Anna Sui event in Lotte Avenue for their new launched BB Cream. This is my first time event ever and I was a total awkward mess. Anna Sui invited around 20 bloggers to attend to this meeting. Here they explained about their new products and their brand concept in general.

The event is small and closed, but the event room is definitely well decorated and is comfortable. Of course the event started with some welcoming speech, and then the thing we've all waiting for, makeup demo time!

Anna Sui's Pro Makeup Artist, explaining everything that we should know about the product, and she actually looks super gorgeous irl

I really glad I actually attend this event because I made a lot of new friends in the blogging world. Even some of the bloggers actually reads my blog :o

Though I have a very bad memory skill in faces and names, I really hope in the next event I'll be less awkward and get to enjoy and know more about this blogging community. I want to take more selfie!!!!

people thought we knew each other from before but this is actually my first time meeting her. And then we watched Fantastic 4 on that day because we're stuck there because of 3in1, and turns out she was my junior in juniorhigh, which means she is my sister's friend, and then she also attends the same uni with my cousin - dunia itu sempit. sekali :D

Ok, now jump into the product review then!

The new BB cream is a part of Anna Sui's Beach 2015 Collection, and is targeted for the summer when the day is hot and you just don't want the heat to mess with your makeup. It is actually a very great product for Indonesia climate, because you see, it's always hot and humid 24/7, 365 days a year.

The main theme for the BEACH 2015 Collection is smooth, poreless, translucent, and velvety - it does sound like things I want my skin looks like through out summer days - or everyday if you're in South East Asia.

BB Cream

        shade
#2 Medium Beige

The packaging is very, very Anna Sui-ish. This time they said they implemented Anna Sui's favorite flower, poppy to the design. Anna Sui cosmetic design is usually very dark and gothic, but also sweet at the same time, this time they seem to add more "sweetness" in the design. Still, not losing their unique touch. (The poppy cap - amazeball)

The product itself came in 2 shades (only. Sad. Yes). I do prefer the 2nd shade, and I'm kinda lucky because I get the 2nd shade in my goodie bag. One great thing about this BB cream is it is not warm toned nor cool tone, it's right in the middle and it's really great. Once I swatched this BB cream, I instantly smell the strong scent, they said is all Anna Sui's cosmetic products have a scent that is unique to them.

This BB cream has dewy finish, not super dewy, just-enough-still-looks-natural-definitely-not-oily kinda dewy. The pamphlet says "semi-matte" but for me it's definitely dewy.

This BB Cream also have SPF of 50 PA++++ (four pluses, yes) - not only it beats all my Korean cushion SPF power, it doesn't have white reflects too. Another great point is that it also contain lychee seed extract (firming and brightening) also peppermint (cooling effect --> pore control), and Rosa Canina fruit extract (Moisturizing) and Pearl powder (Radiance). I bet I wouldn't know any of those if I didn't go the launching event.

The size is small (25ml), just a little bit under regular foundation which usually contain 1 fluid oz, or 30ml. The BB cream came in my favorite, squeeze tube.

One super great thing about this product is for me : it didn't need any primer base for the product to stay on. Still, I use setting powder to get rid of its natural dewy finish to my preferred matte finish. It applies lightly, and coverage wise, so good. I don't need a lot of product to cover my whole face because it spreads out nicely. With the product alone, it stands at least 4 hours without extra sebum on my face. :o

UP before DOWN after
(forgot that I already done half of my face in the before pic. lol)

Overall, I LIKE, no, LOVEEEE this product. Ok, seems like I'm making this one up because I got the product from the event but NOOO. At first swatch, I see how dewy it is and I was like meh. But, the lasting power, even without primer, is fantastic. I didn't expect that. This is my first Anna Sui's product ever and it does raise the hurdles because this is definitely beyond expectation.

This BB Cream is great for those with oily skin, like me, and for those who have drier skin, moisturize enough before applying the BB Cream! On some days, you know when I just got off the bed and still in a dazed moment, the scent seems to be really really strong that I felt it throws a straight jab up to my nose. But, most of the time it didn't bother me. If you are, please sniff it first before purchasing!

Once again, thankyou so much Anna Sui Indonesia for inviting me to the event. I would love to attend more events in the future, but now my day job seems to get in the way zzzzzzzz Thankyou Anna Sui Indonesia for the product and also the lovely pouch! :*

REVIEW : Holika-Holika "Aqua Petit Jelly B.B"

Hello! Today I'm going to review a popular BB from Holika-Holika! I'm pretty sure y'all know what is this... (or probably because of the title! I know about this B.B from a looooooooooong time ago from one of Michelle Phan's video I think?

      BRAND
holika holika

      PRODUCT NAME
Aqua Petit Jelly B.B

      type of product
B.B Gel

       shade
#2 aqua natural

      PRICE
KRW 13.500

I think this is "Aqua Petit Jelly" new packaging (correct me if i'm wrong). The B.B comes with a makeup sponge inside. The packaging did some statements in English, but I'll just summarize it in my own words.

"This B.B jelly texture that make makeup spread evenly, fully hydrated and shiny and flawless skin. Contain mint water to help skin hydration and marine jelly complex for soft and bouncy skin."

Also it contain SPF 20 PA++ and available in 2 shades only (typical..) and for a note here it contains paraben. As expected for an older B.B product (I didn't mean that this product is old, but it's been a while since this product is around.)

Honestly I was kinda excited seeing that this B.B come with a sponge. But it was a quite disappointment as it doesn't really spread the B.B evenly and it's just worst makeup sponge I've ever used before.

Another problem that I found most people will kinda hate is the fact that this B.B came in a jar with a spatula. Some people will totally found this packaging not hygienic because you have to put the spatula back to the rest of the product.

Despite stating that it'll make your skin 'shiny', I found out that this B.B has a semi-matte finish. Tried to apply this B.B without a primer on half of my face, and with a primer on the rest - at the end of the day both side of my face didn't have much difference! That is quite a shocker, because a BB cream that even has 'matte' label on it, isn't matte at all.

This B.B felt really light on the skin, buildable coverage, has a very fresh scent and not at all sticky! This B.B might be everything that I look in a B.B cream!! There's only 1 REASON why this B.B is not on my HG list - the shade is too light for meeeeeee TT_TT 이럴수가.............

The coverage is actually much better than what I expected from a B.B with a gel texture. It could covers my blemishes but I still need concealer for my under eye.

I read somewhere that this B.B in #2 is suitable for MAC NC 25-30. That's is my shade! And when I swatched these, it matches the color of my hand! Really really sadly, when I put it on my face, the B.B made my face so pale that it definitely didn't match my neck. As much as I love Korean style makeup, that's the only thing I would never do to my face (using foundation lighter than my natural skin tone).

Sadness.

I know that B.B could oxidize to match one's skin tone more, but it didn't happen for me - after a good minute passes, the color is still too light for me :(

So here's what I do to make my purchase didn't go to a waste :
  1. Apply the B.B only in the middle area of your face! Plus, bring in down to your neck f
  2. Don't use a foundation brush to apply the product because it will make the product more concentrated - thus make the face look more white
  3. Use bronzer to sculpt your face! The area that applied with the B.B will look as it was highlighted. Apply blush too if necessary!
  4. Mix it with another B.B with darker shade! Or, apply the darker B.B on the outside frame of your face.
I still feel the B.B make me so white :( and pink :(

I believe that this B.B is made so that you'll get over your makeup process faster, without hustle. But since the shade is too light for me, it seems like I tend to be extra careful with this B.B and ended up skipping this product when I need to get ready quickly :(

Sometimes I also felt not comfortable and lost my self-confidence when I felt like I over-layered this B.B. I think light foundation is one of my pet-peeves. or fear. lol

As much as I adore the formulation of this Aqua Petit Jelly B.B - I really hope that it'll come up with more shades!!! :(

Have you ever tried this B.B? Comment down below!

REVIEW : Missha "M" Vita B.B cream (Matte)

Yellow! Today I'm going to review something that I've had for sometime now and it's not new either, it's Missha''s M Vita B.B.Cream [Matte]

This B.B cream is not anywhere new in the market, and I've read somewhere that the 'Vita' B.B Cream line is the last B.B creams that Missha will ever make. And if you know me, I'll grab anything with 'Matte' written on them. I bought it on the store, and it retails for KRW 11.800 for 50ml. And the Vita B.B cream comes in 2 types, one matte and the other one is moisture and both only have one shade available.

It's also come with a box. No idea why I didn't take the box's picture.

And here's the decription from MisshaUS website :

"M Vita BB Cream Matte evens out skin texture and brightens skin tone with a moist and light finish. It calms sensitive skin, protects from UV rays and pollution, and helps maintain healthy skin. It is suitable for all skin types.

Vita Complex is comprised of 7 essential vitamins (Vitamin B3, B5, C, E, F, H, and Q) to improve skin and enhance skin vitality. Natural Protector (Fermented Soybean, Willow, Cassia Bark, Oregano, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Gold Extract) provides anti-pollution and soothing benefits for stressed skin. Also contains Grapefruit Seed Extract, Neem Tree Extract, Anti Shadow Complex, and Jewelry Complex for clear, radiant skin. Lemon Extract, Bergamot Fruit Extract, and White Willow Extract ingredients provide sebum control.

Shade is comparable to M Perfect Cover #21 Light Beige"

And it's not written on the description but it's also SPF 20 PA++ and nothing special really about the packaging. It comes with a standard Missha BB cream tube and with a pump.

exactly one pump!

Also forgive me to not take the picture of the ingredients list. But I realized it contains mineral oil that some people might be concerned with.

I usually used a pump and that's enough to cover all my face. And I like to use my buffing brush from Real Techniques brush collection to apply these.

LEFT (on each hand) nothing, RIGHT with bb cream

The coverage. Which I don't expect at all. I was surprised to see that the Perfect Cover B.B cream have less cover power than this one. It even able to cover my dark circles that sometimes made me forgot to wear concealer. That's an amazing one.

UP none; BELOW with bb cream

The price and the amount of product you get. This B.B cream is even cheaper than Etude House Mineral bla bla BB creams that I believe retail for KRW 14.000. And you get a great amount that I expect will last me months and months.

The packaging. It's simple, and with a pump. Can't even complain. And the pump pumps out the exact amount I need to cover my whole face.

Matte? They shouldn't have even bother to put 'matte' on these; because it's the less matte BB cream ever. It's still shines after I let it dry for some good minutes. That also says that this BB cream need the help of primer and setting powder to be able to stay on my oily-combination face. Without my matte primer, this BB cream only stays 1.5 hours shine-free.

Thick Consistency. Great coverage usually comes with thick consistency. What I'm talking here is not that this B.B cream felt heavy (it isn't that heavy) but it takes time for the B.B cream to settles down. Longer than my thicker foundation even. That makes applying this B.B cream with a regular foundation brush is almost impossible without making streaks all over your face. Well the solution that I propose is to blend the B.B cream with a makeup sponge (I do that) and it's streaks free!

Color Selection. I was lucky because the shade, even though it's not the exact match, works for me. But I'm sure a lot of people can't use this because of the poor shade selection. (Heck, it only comes in one shade. wut?). I'm actually shade #23 Perfect Cover and I think I can't use this B.B cream when the warmer season come.

with the BB cream only. no concealer or powder.

Ok. honestly speaking, it's really hard for me to do this review. It seems that I listed a lot of flaws of this product, but I still use this almost everyday. And people on the internet seems to be either liked this B.B cream or super super hate it.
I didn't even bother that this B.B cream didn't mattify my face, because I always go full routine (moisturizer > primer > B.B cream > setting powder) and that routine did a good job keeping my makeup all day.

So, I'll give this product 3.5 out of 5. I just like the fact that this product is a one stop for my blemish and dark circle problem!

Have you ever tried this B.B cream? What do you think? :|
