REVIEW : Holika-Holika "Aqua Petit Jelly B.B"

Hello! Today I'm going to review a popular BB from Holika-Holika! I'm pretty sure y'all know what is this... (or probably because of the title! I know about this B.B from a looooooooooong time ago from one of Michelle Phan's video I think?

I think this is "Aqua Petit Jelly" new packaging (correct me if i'm wrong). The B.B comes with a makeup sponge inside. The packaging did some statements in English, but I'll just summarize it in my own words.

"This B.B jelly texture that make makeup spread evenly, fully hydrated and shiny and flawless skin. Contain mint water to help skin hydration and marine jelly complex for soft and bouncy skin."

Also it contain SPF 20 PA++ and available in 2 shades only (typical..) and for a note here it contains paraben. As expected for an older B.B product (I didn't mean that this product is old, but it's been a while since this product is around.)

Honestly I was kinda excited seeing that this B.B come with a sponge. But it was a quite disappointment as it doesn't really spread the B.B evenly and it's just worst makeup sponge I've ever used before.

Another problem that I found most people will kinda hate is the fact that this B.B came in a jar with a spatula. Some people will totally found this packaging not hygienic because you have to put the spatula back to the rest of the product.

Despite stating that it'll make your skin 'shiny', I found out that this B.B has a semi-matte finish. Tried to apply this B.B without a primer on half of my face, and with a primer on the rest - at the end of the day both side of my face didn't have much difference! That is quite a shocker, because a BB cream that even has 'matte' label on it, isn't matte at all.

This B.B felt really light on the skin, buildable coverage, has a very fresh scent and not at all sticky! This B.B might be everything that I look in a B.B cream!! There's only 1 REASON why this B.B is not on my HG list - the shade is too light for meeeeeee TT_TT 이럴수가.............

The coverage is actually much better than what I expected from a B.B with a gel texture. It could covers my blemishes but I still need concealer for my under eye.

I read somewhere that this B.B in #2 is suitable for MAC NC 25-30. That's is my shade! And when I swatched these, it matches the color of my hand! Really really sadly, when I put it on my face, the B.B made my face so pale that it definitely didn't match my neck. As much as I love Korean style makeup, that's the only thing I would never do to my face (using foundation lighter than my natural skin tone).

Sadness.

I know that B.B could oxidize to match one's skin tone more, but it didn't happen for me - after a good minute passes, the color is still too light for me :(

So here's what I do to make my purchase didn't go to a waste :
  1. Apply the B.B only in the middle area of your face! Plus, bring in down to your neck f
  2. Don't use a foundation brush to apply the product because it will make the product more concentrated - thus make the face look more white
  3. Use bronzer to sculpt your face! The area that applied with the B.B will look as it was highlighted. Apply blush too if necessary!
  4. Mix it with another B.B with darker shade! Or, apply the darker B.B on the outside frame of your face.
I still feel the B.B make me so white :( and pink :(

I believe that this B.B is made so that you'll get over your makeup process faster, without hustle. But since the shade is too light for me, it seems like I tend to be extra careful with this B.B and ended up skipping this product when I need to get ready quickly :(

Sometimes I also felt not comfortable and lost my self-confidence when I felt like I over-layered this B.B. I think light foundation is one of my pet-peeves. or fear. lol

As much as I adore the formulation of this Aqua Petit Jelly B.B - I really hope that it'll come up with more shades!!! :(

Have you ever tried this B.B? Comment down below!

REVIEW : Holika-Holika's Jewel Light Waterproof Eyeliner

Hey-Ho! Today I'm going to review Holika-Holika's Jewel Light Waterproof Eyeliner(s). I read about them first randomly from Rini Cesilia's blog post HERE and HERE and she gave 5 out of 5!

Honestly I didn't need anymore eyeliners, especially pencil liners because I don't use them a lot, I used them daily for lining my waterline only. But there's one color that I want to purchase which was the "Ballerina Pink" #17, and I stumbled upon Holika-Holika's Gmarket page and found out that they have an event buy 3 for KRW 9.900. So I bought 2 more colors!

Originally retails for KRW 4.900 - it is considerably cheap and they have a lot of colors selection. Plus, Promise Phan from youtube recommends these as Make Up Forever eyeliners dupe.

The colors I bought are #3 Lapiz Lazuli (Navy blue with glitters), #15 Burgundy Janet (Dark brownish burgundy) and #17 Ballerina Pink (Baby pink - matte)

I say they're living up to their claims : water proof, long-lasting, pigmented color, and smudge resistant. Also, they're very creamy and really easy to apply! Sometimes the problem with creamier eye pencil is that it needs to be sharpen all the time, but it's not happening to these! I've been using "Ballerina Pink" for sometime now and I haven't even sharpened it yet! (Yes, these are not retractable, you have to sharpen them)

I've actually done a test for their smudge proof and water proof qualities, and I thought I have to make a quick video to show you guys. Let them sets for a minute or so and it really does stays!! (Even the glitters aren't going anywhere!). For the water resistant point, I agree they have better water resistant quality than other eyeliners I have, but still, especially the #3 Lapis Lazuli's glitters, some are washed away after a few sweeps. Most of the colors stays though!

As for the colors, they're very pigmented. The "Ballerina Pink" turns out to be pinker than I hope it would - and I like to use it for my lower water line to give that brighter and clearer eyes. Both #3 Lapis Lazuli and #15 Burgundy Janet looks like black/brown from a far and I think I'm really satisfied with my choice! I think both are able to give softer looks but still with an edge (?)

ABOVE without flash BELOW with flash. RIGHT #3 lapis lazuli LEFT #15 burgundy janet. Both lower line is using #17 ballerina pink

Overall, I'm giving these a 4.8 out of 5! These eyeliners are not 100% smudge free for me, as they transfer to my eye bags after a few hours of usage. Especially if I line my upper lid with these only! (like the swatch above - but it's almost never happen, I only use my pen liner to do that daily!) Still, they're very remarkable and I look forward on purchasing more colors and maybe some versatile colors like black or dark brown for an everyday wear! Or maybe I'll try more fun colors because they do have a huge color collection!

Good job, Holika Holika! :)

quick question here, anybody watched EXO's Running Man??? 헐 대박 I'm very proud of Lay's air time!!! That's freakin' a lot! <3

REVIEW : Holika-Holika's Luminous Silk Aura Pact

Finally, the summer has finally end. The fall semester began and i've started my first week of school with hell-ish homeworks already. I've planned to make pre-written makeup review so that I could post them little by little by the week, but I'm so busy even in the weekend, I felt like I can't even breath! Anyway I went to Sanchong on Saturday, somewhere outside Busan that took 2++ hours trip for a 'Cultural Experience' for the whole day (Read : stuck-with-a-crappy-ahjumma-guide-but-to-afraid-to-wander-around-alone-because-the-expo-is-too-big) and on Friday and Sunday I went to the International Travel Expo in Bexco to fill in the Indonesian Traditional Dance (Batak Dance) and felt like a celebrity for a day, then continued with a meeting with Cinema Club members and Kecak Dance practice afterwards. I was dead-tired and I'm still alive with the power of caffeine. Tomorrow is supposed to be my off-day but I have to do all my homeworks because I can't do any on my weekend. fml.

Anyway,

Hi! Today I'm gonna review something that I purchase a couple weeks ago, Holika-Holika's Luminous Silk Aura Pact (SPF 25 PA++) in #1 Light Beige. Retail for KRW 13.900. According to the website this pact gives a light and smooth lustrous skin as silk, anti-darkening, and brings velvet, moist silk-texture finish. Also it had 2 shades only #1 Light Beige and #2 Natural Beige.

I bought them one my last trip to Seoul after I stupidly left my powder pact in Busan so I had to get something up. This is a repurchase product, I first tried and purchase it last year and I've got a great experience with it so I had no worry at all. It's an emergency so I don't need any grab-and-try product.

The first thing that drawn me to the product is of course, the packaging. If you read my blog for long enough, you'll know that I adore simple-classy packaging rather than lovely-cutey-flowery one. And this one is I think an exception. I love the idea of combining metallics (pink) with white lace, and don't forget that they also printed the motives in the powder too.

Funny thing is, I actually picked up the wrong shade. Last year I was using the #2 Natural Beige and another funny thing is I notice it just, like, now.... seriously, when I was editing the pictures I just realized that I have the #1 shade. Means that the two shades didn't have a big difference in the color, even though it's quite pigmented.

I remember I've featured this product a long time ago in my blog post, but I can't really took a good picture of the lace print because I had a very suck camera. But I could now!

If you see the product description above, you might wonder isn't this powder is more likely for people with dry skin? - yes, I think so too. However as long as it had no sparkle, I'm quite open for a product trial. Even my oily-combination skin has been receiving the product quite well. I like to use this powder mostly for touch ups as the coverage is amazing. I also do set my makeup with this powder for the days when I want more coverage and flawless finish.

Though you have to be very careful around your under eye and your smile line if you use the powder for setting up because it could settles in. The key is : blend, blend and blend. As it says, the product gives a velvety finish and the pigmentation makes it could be use on it's own on days when you don't want to wear to put on thick makeup.

Ofcourse, the powder have to come with a (big enough) mirror and a separator between the puff and the powder, makes it even better for travel. One thing about the powder, last year when I was using it I get through it so much faster than any other powder I ever used before. And I could only think of 2 reasons : One, it had less product than other similar powder pact products (in which I doubt it), or Two, the consistency is so creamy so that puff/brush picks more products (in which is might also the reason why it settles easily on face lines.)

Anyhoo, I like this product, mainly for touchups only. I do like the look I got when I set my face with it, but it could only hold in for like, an hour, and after that it settles down in my face lines and my oily skin started to get annoyed and thus I look like a just fried human tempura. But again, it does a great job for touch ups, it adds coverage and get rids of excess oil better that when used as a setting powder.

(Plus the SPF is quite high for a powder and the packaging, can't get any better!)

So have you tried it? Or do you want to? x
