REVIEW : Etude House's "Stay Up Foundation" in Sand

Hi! Happy Eid Mubarak!

Today I'm bringing a new foundation review from Etude House - hang on tight, it might be my favorite thing from EH. It's their new "Stay Up Foundation" - Smooth & Cover. I would not know about this if I didn't go directly to Etude's website. I guess it didn't get much rave since the Princess Happy Ending Collection get more attention.

      BRAND
Etude House

      PRODUCT NAME
"Stay Up Foundation"

        type of product
Liquid Foundation

        shade
Sand

      PRICE
KRW  13.000

Nothing special about the packaging, I think because it's one of their regular collection so they just keep everything simple. The foundation also have SPF of 30 / PA++ and it's only 25gr or 0.88 oz. Slightly less than other foundation that usually have the standard size of 30gr or 1 oz.
As the description on the box said : This foundation completes smooth and flawless make-up with its smooth up, cover up, moist up "Stay up" formula.

It didn't specifically state that this foundation is good for someone with oily skin and stuff, it even stated that it's moisturizing? but I kinda sure before I went ahead to purchase it that somehow it's going to work good on oily combo skin - so I give myself a try!

Etude House is so considerate that they have 5 shades for this product, with "Pure" for the lightest and "Sand" is the darkest. So it's Pure - Rosey - Ivory - Beige - Sand. You can see I bought the darkest color and it's great match to my skin tone (I'm MAC NC 25-30)

The foundation came in a squeeze tube, with the cap sits on the bottom. Since the tube opening is small, I don't have a problem with adjusting the amount of product I need.

I don't need much since the product has a good coverage. When applied it has a velvety finish, like it's feel like it's matte, but looks a little shiny. But after you let it set, the product sets really well into a semi-matte, still leaving a nice natural skin sheen exposed so you don't get too 'flat' - because that's what happen if you use something that is too matte.

It has a slight baby powder scent, love it! I guess a lot of Korean like this product because it gives a less shiny look - without drying out their skin. It's the perfect foundation for people with dry skin during hotter and sweatier months - for oily skin people, we can always add primer and powder on top to further fix the foundation up.

BEFORE > AFTER

my skin with the foundation a few hours after application - looks great huh?

I honestly thinks that this foundation gives my skin a very, very smooth surface. Quite shocked when I zoomed in my dslr to only see my skin is so smooth.. Compared to the coverage it gives, this foundation is very light to the skin.

Great pigmentation
5 Shades to choose from
SPF of 30 / PA++
Smooth, velvety finish
Smells nice
Good for people with oily skin, as well as dry skin
- with the right product combination
Didn't leave your face looks extremely flat
Lightweight on the skin

Small size - why EH just don't follow the 30 g standard size?

Overall, I'm obsessed with this product. EH Anytime Cushion used to be my favorite EH face product, and it's really easily moved to 2nd place by this product. It gives just enough coverage for my everyday wear and it's really lightweight. And I feel like the texture is so easy to blend!

If I'm to compare this product, between EH products itself, it has pretty similar texture and finish with the "Skin Fit Foundation" but with better coverage and shade selection. And with other foundations I have, I can compare this with Revlon's "Colorstay Foundation" for Oily / Combo skin, but with much lighter feel on the skin and less matte.

This might be the best purchase that I've ever made in EH - I unconsciously keep on using this again and again.

Thankyou so much for reading! Will you try this product? Leave me a comment down below!

  1. This looks very good and I would love to try it, but do you think it would not work for the dry skin?

  2. Oh my god, I really want this foundation! I have always stuck to Bb creams but lately there have been many events where I need a heavier, photo friendly finish, plus my skin has started to get oily with the hotter temperature. Thanks for showing the exact color I would get too! Thanks so much for this review xx

  3. This looks amazing! I love the thought of the velvety slightly matte finish! I think I'd use the 3rd or 4th shade! I've yet to try any foundations from them but I would love to try one! I would love a bb cream but I can't stand how much product there is and I'll never finish them! Thanks for the review!

  9. cool tone / pink tone go for rosey, warm tone / yellow tone go for ivory / beige! I don't know how light 'Pure' is but if you wanna have natural/matched tone you probably wanna look for the middle shades!

  10. Wow this really seems like a nice product! I really want to try it! It somehow reminds me of the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua I'm currently using but with more oil control. Maybe I'll get this when I pass by Etude counter :) Thanks for the review!

  11. Oh wow I'm surprised by the coverage! I thought this would be another mediocre product from Etude House when I first saw it, but I'm not so sure now. It has a really nice finish on you ^^ Thanks for the review Filia~

  12. I haven't had any luck with EH face products in the past. I must've tried like 3 or 4 different foundations or BB creams from EH, and I didn't like any of them. However, after reading a few reviews about this foundation, I'm really tempted to give EH another chance. It really does look good on you, and I like that it's more lightweight than Revlon's Colorstay, because that one was much too heavy even though the coverage was good. Thanks for doing this helpful review!

  17. I really want to try this! I love having a light weight base for everyday because then I don't feel like I have makeup on my face all day. I haven't tried the Revlon Colorstay in almost 5 years so I can't really compare it to the coverage, but it looks great by the look of it! Great review!

  23. Hi,

May I ask if it is possible to have cool tone yet looks yellow? I have cool tone, but the sales assistant recommended me to use ivory.

    Thanks

  24. I think the problem lies in their indoor lighting, people's skin tone usually don't reflect well under indoor lighting - i think that's why (probably) the SA mistook your tone and recommend you different shade :(
