REVIEW : Majolica Majorca Skin Remaker Pore Cover

HELLO!
Before I go into the review, I want to make a little announcement here! Some of you might be know already, so I'm making a new Instagram account specially for my blog updates!

My old instagram (@filiiap) will still be open for public (wuut. that sounds weird. anyway) but it will only be filled boring pictures of my daily life yada-yada. So my new instagram will be filled with small reviews and stuff that is in relation to my blog! You can go ahead and follow the new acc if you like!

To the review!
This time its a powder foundation from Shiseido second label, Majolica Majorca!

      BRAND

pressed powder foundation

       shade

This is definitely not something that I get by impulse because One, I think the packaging is kinda trashy and Two, it's freakin' expensive for something that Sailor Moon would use to transform herself. Up to this day, I'm still super embarrassed to take this out and use this in public - heck, my friends once pass this around because it's just so 'dazzling' as i might say.

(I also think the name is funny. I love how Japanese always come up with an English word that make sense - but in the same time made absolutely no sense!)

And talking about Majolica Majorca and their production / sales plan, I think their kinda genius (and also petty) because they sold the case and the refill separately. The case came in 2 color - gold and pink, both are 'dazzled'. The sponge applicator came in with the refill pack. And the refill pack came in 4 shades (BO10, BO20, OC10, OC20)

Another powder from MM, the 'Pressed Pore Cover' was my first choice to purchase - though I always more intrigued with this more. Short story here, my friends were in Japan during the winter break, and I said to them like early before that I want to ask for something to buy while they're in Japan. I completely forgot about it. Not until they Kakaotalk me and ask for my request ASAP - And then I realized that I want this more! (Thankyou Kirana & Ci Kiomi! <3)

This powder is puuuuurfect for on the go. I use this mainly for touch-ups. Tried everything, from setting up foundation, foundation by itself, and touch-ups, turned out that it works best in the area. Plus, the big mirror! Another plus is the SPF 18 PA+, not much but SPF is still a good thing!

The powder have a matte finish, super great coverage, and very smooth when applied. During the day, usually around the side of my nose and the area under my lips, my foundation wore off - and this powder just magically repairs everything back into place!

RIGHT withouth LEFT with the powder only

Although it's perfection for touch-ups, I don't find it works that well for setting up foundation or to be use as foundation alone. The result could appear very cakey - especially under natural lighting. The lasting power is so-so, not too long not too soon. Since the name is 'Pore Cover' I fell it's main purpose is to cover pores, right? My pores aren't crazy large so I still can say it does cover them up well.

I found my shade through a blog, and I'm kinda surprised because their shade runs darker than I thought. For example I usually go for W21 - W23 in Korean products but this I go with the lightest shade. The others are either too yellow or basically too dark for me (I'm MAC NC25 btw!)

Overall, this product has been my life saver for a few good time! The packaging is definitely - and will still - not my cup of tea, nevertheless the product is super good!! Definitely read other people blogs about this product review because this product is quite expensive - I found reviews that are from years back, apparently this product has been around for a while!

My friend said it is quite easy to get a hand for MM products in Japan - and if you're in Korea and want to get some MM products definitely check Olive Young. And psst the prices difference is not that big!

REVIEW : Holika-Holika's Luminous Silk Aura Pact

Finally, the summer has finally end. The fall semester began and i've started my first week of school with hell-ish homeworks already. I've planned to make pre-written makeup review so that I could post them little by little by the week, but I'm so busy even in the weekend, I felt like I can't even breath! Anyway I went to Sanchong on Saturday, somewhere outside Busan that took 2++ hours trip for a 'Cultural Experience' for the whole day (Read : stuck-with-a-crappy-ahjumma-guide-but-to-afraid-to-wander-around-alone-because-the-expo-is-too-big) and on Friday and Sunday I went to the International Travel Expo in Bexco to fill in the Indonesian Traditional Dance (Batak Dance) and felt like a celebrity for a day, then continued with a meeting with Cinema Club members and Kecak Dance practice afterwards. I was dead-tired and I'm still alive with the power of caffeine. Tomorrow is supposed to be my off-day but I have to do all my homeworks because I can't do any on my weekend. fml.

Anyway,

Hi! Today I'm gonna review something that I purchase a couple weeks ago, Holika-Holika's Luminous Silk Aura Pact (SPF 25 PA++) in #1 Light Beige. Retail for KRW 13.900. According to the website this pact gives a light and smooth lustrous skin as silk, anti-darkening, and brings velvet, moist silk-texture finish. Also it had 2 shades only #1 Light Beige and #2 Natural Beige.

I bought them one my last trip to Seoul after I stupidly left my powder pact in Busan so I had to get something up. This is a repurchase product, I first tried and purchase it last year and I've got a great experience with it so I had no worry at all. It's an emergency so I don't need any grab-and-try product.

The first thing that drawn me to the product is of course, the packaging. If you read my blog for long enough, you'll know that I adore simple-classy packaging rather than lovely-cutey-flowery one. And this one is I think an exception. I love the idea of combining metallics (pink) with white lace, and don't forget that they also printed the motives in the powder too.

Funny thing is, I actually picked up the wrong shade. Last year I was using the #2 Natural Beige and another funny thing is I notice it just, like, now.... seriously, when I was editing the pictures I just realized that I have the #1 shade. Means that the two shades didn't have a big difference in the color, even though it's quite pigmented.

I remember I've featured this product a long time ago in my blog post, but I can't really took a good picture of the lace print because I had a very suck camera. But I could now!

If you see the product description above, you might wonder isn't this powder is more likely for people with dry skin? - yes, I think so too. However as long as it had no sparkle, I'm quite open for a product trial. Even my oily-combination skin has been receiving the product quite well. I like to use this powder mostly for touch ups as the coverage is amazing. I also do set my makeup with this powder for the days when I want more coverage and flawless finish.

Though you have to be very careful around your under eye and your smile line if you use the powder for setting up because it could settles in. The key is : blend, blend and blend. As it says, the product gives a velvety finish and the pigmentation makes it could be use on it's own on days when you don't want to wear to put on thick makeup.

Ofcourse, the powder have to come with a (big enough) mirror and a separator between the puff and the powder, makes it even better for travel. One thing about the powder, last year when I was using it I get through it so much faster than any other powder I ever used before. And I could only think of 2 reasons : One, it had less product than other similar powder pact products (in which I doubt it), or Two, the consistency is so creamy so that puff/brush picks more products (in which is might also the reason why it settles easily on face lines.)

Anyhoo, I like this product, mainly for touchups only. I do like the look I got when I set my face with it, but it could only hold in for like, an hour, and after that it settles down in my face lines and my oily skin started to get annoyed and thus I look like a just fried human tempura. But again, it does a great job for touch ups, it adds coverage and get rids of excess oil better that when used as a setting powder.

(Plus the SPF is quite high for a powder and the packaging, can't get any better!)

So have you tried it? Or do you want to? x

REVIEW : Innisfree's No-Sebum Mineral Powder

Ever since I posted about 3CE's blotting powder review, some people recommend me to try this product for setting makeups. This is Innisfree No-Sebum Mineral Powder. Retail for KRW 6.000 and I bought it in the store. Apparently this product also listed as one of Innisfree's best seller.

'No-Sebum' means Oil-free, you may notice that the word 'sebum' comes a lot in Korean makeup description. It's a dermatologic word for oil that is on our face / hair to keep our skins moisturized.

As I stated before in my 3CE's post, I did hesitant to pick it up because -- I super hate the packaging. I know it's cheap but doesn't mean the packaging should look any cheaper. But I did buy it in the end (because my mom paid for this. kkk)

Innisfree is famous for their natural and organic ingredients, and definitely one of my favorite Korean brand. This powder have two types, the loose one and the pact (powder pact retails for KRW 10.000). I saw a lot of beauty gurus / bloggers said this is their HG for korean brand's powder and very good for people with oily / combination skin.

The product also includes a puff (I lost it before I could take the picture) and also come with a protective stickers over the powder holes. The powder comes only with one color, white, which I believe to be translucent so that'll match everyone skin tones.

The powder is very fine and light. I found that applying them with fluffy brush is not enough, i like to apply them with my Real Techniques Buffing Brush and dap it all over for more concentrated application.

Some people said they liked the size of the powder, because it easier for them to bring for travel and touch ups (the powder pact, not this one I suppose). So I bought this product in Seoul, I opened the seal and use it, put them back to my makeup pouch. Then when I got home, the fine powders got everywhere, the worse? The powder was so fine, even the packaging itself can't keep them inside perfectly. I tried to really close them up and shake them, and it still gets to the sides, and the time you open it up the powder flew everywhere.

Banila Co.'s translucent powder has a secure lock, and it covers the holes so that the powders don't flew everywhere. That is one thing I like more from Banila Co's translucent powder.

Here's the swatch of the product :

TOP before powder application | BELOW after powder application

The powder may seem really white, but this powder is seriously the finest powder I ever own. It instantly mattifies anything you put before. And honestly, I kept on reaching this product more and more, more than my other translucent powders.

Still, in the summer this No-sebum powder is not enough for me, I layered some more pressed powder on my T-zone and my forehead area. It still does a great job on mattifying your skin considering most of Korean brand product is targeted for dry skin, searching for a good product for oily / combination skin is a challenge itself.

So? I say this product had exceed my expectation. I see now why a lot of people raved about it! Moreover its cheaper than other similar product I discover.

REVIEW : 3 Concept Eyes Blotting Powder

HEY GUYS!
A little info here, for you guys who resides in Indonesia, Singapore, or any other South East Asian countries and even Australia - starting from 12th May 2014 "3CE" is available in luxola.com!

They're also gonna be in their famous "flash sale" so look forward for that! :))

____________________________________________________________________________

Yellow! I'm back with a review for another 3CE product here : Blotting Powder! This is quite an impulse buy. That's the problem when all the products are spread in front of your eyes, you just felt yo need everything, when you obviously don't. You can check the product in Luxola.com, CLICK HERE to go to the product page

this product is called blotting powder - because it purpose is to blots oil during the day, for touch ups. My skin is oily - combination and I've always put on powder over my foundation, but recently during the summer my face gets easier and easier to get oily and disgusting during the hottest time of the day. Well i think this is no different than a pressed translucent powder.

I always use my banila co. finish powder, but now I need something stronger, something more solid. Now I just found a reason to buy this! So instead of touch ups, I've use this to set up my makeup, of course I carry this around too most of the time.

Retail for KRW 24.000 (link here). I bought it directly in the flagship store.

First, lets talk about the packaging. Come on guys, I praise 3CE for its packaging. And aside all the glorious outside packaging, I quite like the separator between the sponge and the product. It keeps the product a little bit more hygienic by keeping the dirty sponge for touching the product, again.

The packaging also support it's purpose for 'touch up' by providing a huge mirror! And again the separator also stops the product to dirt the mirror!

One thing disturbs me the most, is the white sponge that comes with it. Now if I see mine, it's dirty with all the foundations that smudges over to the sponge. Grah. so dirty, i think I'll replace mine with a cream / black one. And for touch ups, you don't want to bring that big powder brush, don't ya.

As for the product. I'm quite troubled here. I'm on the verge of like and dislike here. It's like it's ok, but not that ok? So here's the problems :

- This product doesn't keep my face oil-free long enough. I can't say my banila co. finish powder did a superb job either, but I expect better strength as it's a pressed product, but nope.

- See the swatch I did there? See how white it is? Translucent powders like this supposed to be somewhat 'invisible' to the skin, but I could feel how my face turns a super tad bit whiter. (But then again I use this for my friend that is much much darker than me, as long as you blends it's ok. Unless you only have a super short 'touch up' time, then you might want to check twice on your blending skill!)

But ofcourse the plus point is : this product is very practical and compact. Bring it everywhere and you're good! I'm still in a love-hate relationship with this product, and I think I'm going to try innisfree's no sebum powder, which I hate how small the product is.

Ok for the overall : Love - hate, quite expensive (duh). BUT! Stylenanda is an online store, which means you can't directly try the products (you could actually, by coming to Korea of course, and returning product is such a pain in the a*s) and if you want to purchase their pressed powder but you're not sure about the shades (they only have 2 shades, which is not really big in difference) try pick this one instead!

thankyou so much for reading! :D
