REVIEW : Etude House Dear Darling Tint - 04 Vampire Red

Soooo as my post have been Autumn - Fall themed, let's go with the theme and review this product. I've took pictures for this product for some time, but I always forgot about it! It's Etude House Dear Darling Tint in #04 Vampire Red (뱀파이어 레드). Retail for KRW 4.000 it's one of Etude House's Best Seller for the Lips collection. It's cheap, and it's like a basic makeup you would get anyway. (Plus, i got in on sale, cost me only like KRW 2.000)

Yes it does look black in the tube, but you can see a slight reddish color if you look up close. It's also one of the reason why I got this item, the color is dark red! I mean is not something that Etude House would come with and I think the color is so damn pretty.

The packaging is an Etude House standard collection packaging? Comes with 4 color and all 4 of them are very vivid. It has a gel texture, very different to other tints that I tried and the texture makes application easier. Making gradation lips is so much easier with this tint comparing to tint with watery texture or even with lipsticks because the tint doesn't get everywhere and easy to blend.

It has a 'Etude House' trademark scent, that sweet-candy scent you always smell whenever you walk into Etude House's store. (Plus it doesn't taste 'that' bitter. You know sometimes you'll poke your teeth / tasted your tint when you make that gradation lips. So, taste is very important to me because a lot of tints is very very very bitter. And fyi I didn't lick the wand to know the taste of the tint, you know the deal! Don't pretend this never happen to you!)

UP one layer swatch BELOW the tint remained after I sweep the swatch over with a makeup wipe

As you can see the color is very vivid. And in just a moment it stained my hand quite well. So it does stain your lips so the lasting power is great.

Now I've stated what I like about this product, now let's go to the dark side. After a few hours after application, the color, ofcourse, faded. But not only the color faded, but some stays in some awkward area of my lips. Not only it stays on my lips' line, it's feels like my lips are cracking away! And the worse is even after re-applying, I could still see some parts that have some tint built up from prior application. (I have to literally scratch away those 'cracks' and reapply)

See the picture below (Sorry it's rather disgusting but hey, facts!)

for the sake of science, I kept my lips without reapplying for some hours and this happened

Even after I scrub and moisturized my lips, this cracks still happening. I did found a solution though! I put on some lip gloss, with similar color over it. Not only blurs out the cracks, it actually boost the color and I pretty much like the look in the end. And I also found out that the same thing happens to my friends too, I saw the tints built up it the sides and the center of their lips.

you could still see the built ups on the sides of my lips from prior application, as I said before

I really, really, really, want to love this tint. I meant, the color was amazing, the texture, the price!! That's also the reason why I kept trying this tint on and on and combined it with different products. But combining this tint with a lip gloss for a gradation lips look is a bit time consuming & difficult, but using it on its own is also make me nervous because I have to check on the mirror like literally all the time!

For now I like to apply this tint to my full lips, but I can't say that it's wearable daily. Maybe not these days, when the days get colder I might could wear this lips on daily basis.

Have you ever tried this Dear Darling Tint from Etude House? What do you think? Did you face the same problem as I did? :\

me posing with cracking lips, with having no slight idea that it would actually cracks on me.

xx

  3. I got the orange one, forgot its number. It does dry out my lips insanely but i use it with my innisfree creamy tint #4. First with creamy tint then apply darling tint on the middle of the lips. Perfect gradation lips without feeling too dry :)

  4. I just reviewed this one too~ I love the colour and the price. The uneven fading was an issue, but just not enough to stop me wearing it. Haha.

    1. yes!! I keep on looking for other methods that I could use to make this lip tint stays a bit longer and the best I could do is to layer it with a lip gloss :(

  14. When I use this tint it comes out great! This is actually the only tint that does not crack my lips up and keeps it very moisturized unlike the water-based ones. Maybe you should try it with the Khiel's Lip Balm #1! :) I love your blog by the way :)

  18. Love the dark color in you. Suits you very well! This kind of cracking are pretty normal with water tints. You did a smart idea for putting lip gloss! Best web deals at Ford Powerstroke injectors
